The AFL Mark of the Year finalists have been announced, with GWS Giant Harry Himmelberg snagging two of three nominations. A winner will be announced in the coming weeks, with the Australian public to vote on their favourite mark from the three finalists. Himmelberg started the year with a huge grab off the back of Crows ruckman Reilly O'Brien in the opening round. The 27-year-old will catch eyes with some noticeable hang time on the 202cm ruckman, and is more than deserving of the AFL Mark of the Year nod. High-flying Himmelberg proved his first-round effort was no fluke, coming up with a clutch hanger and goal to win it for the Giants in Gather Round. The 195cm forward flew over Hawthorn skipper James Sicily to take a huge pack mark, in the final moments before icing the game with a set shot. In Round 10, Collingwood forward Ash Johnson leapt into a marking contest to snatch a striking mark over Carlton ruckman Marc Pittonet, in front of a packed stadium. A plunge into the turf sold the high-flying grab, with Johnson earning his place in the top three marks of the year. The AFL Mark of the Year is announced during Brownlow Medal Night, which is set to take place on Monday, September 25th. Alongside the honours, the AFL Goal of the Year will also be awarded to a deserving winner, and of course, the prestigious Brownlow Medal will be decided. Himmelberg, who has been close to taking the award in previous years, will be hopeful one of his two marks will prove a winner.
