SYLVESTER Wong, Aecom vice president for Asia ESG Services and Philippines country executive, takes on the leadership of the Urban Land Institute (ULI) Philippines as its new national council chairman, serving a two-year term until June 30, 2025. A master urban planner, designer infrastructure strategist and a self-described "cities whisperer," Wong builds on nearly three decades of experience across Asia. In his fresh capacity, he channels his wealth of expertise, prioritizing two pivotal platforms to enhance ULI Philippines' member benefits: facilitating the influx of foreign direct investment and strategic partnerships to the nation, and amplifying the reach of international and local best practices and networks on a global and regional scale. "The Philippines is open for business in real estate and infrastructure, with 6.4 percent Q1 GDP growth, liberalizing ownership and global integration of our nation's talent. We are excited to launch a roadmap for ULI through 2025 to strengthen our role as the bridge between regional investors, local owners and global best practices in responsible and resilient land use. The next two years are critical for elevating our property and infrastructure assets and technology across the Philippines, into the top tiers of global investment that increasingly seeks sustainable projects with outsized social impact," he said. ULI is an independent global nonprofit supported by members representing a diverse spectrum of real estate development and land use disciplines.
